Lincolnton-Velma Leona Engle Chatman, age 86 of Lincolnton passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at Brian Center of Lincolnton.  She was born January 25, 1927 in Lincoln County to the late Summey Engle and Nancy Jane York Engle.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Russell Chatman, one son, Thomas L. Chatman, and one sister, Louiza Brittain.
She is survived by one son, Steve Chatman and his wife Sandra, three daughters, Diane Carpenter and her husband Doug, Betty Houser and  her husband Walt, and Rita Faye Franklin and her husband Kent, all of Lincolnton, one brother, John Engle and his wife Margie of Newton, three sisters, Nancy Gate and her husband Sonny of High Shoals, Sarah Ledbetter and her husband Harvey of Lincolnton, and Linda Fortenberry and her husband Walt of Lincolnton, nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM at E. F. Drum Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 6:30-8:00 PM at E. F. Drum Funeral Home.  The interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Revs Jeff Hull and Gary Saunders will officiate.
Special Thanks to the staff at the Brian Center for their loving care of our Mother, Grandmother and Sister.
