Obituary
Earnest Forney Lail, 87 of Vale, passed away on August 21, 2023 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. Earnest was born on August 18, 1936 in Cleveland County, NC. to the late Manley Roosevelt and Hessie Lail. He was retired from Bosch (formerly Vermont-American) of Lincolnton. Earnest enjoyed fixing cars and trucks. He loved working in his shop building. Earnest enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Earnest is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Helen Mae Blackwell Lail, one son, David Lail and girlfriend Jessica Quates of Vale, one brother, Melvin Lail and his wife Dolly, one grandson, Nick Lail of Vale, two granddaughters; McKensi and Jaylee Mathis, one great niece, Marlee Warlick, two great granddaughters; Carly Beard and Taylor McCumber, his life-long friend, Lanny Ballard, his dog Turbo and many other cherished relatives and friends.
The Lail family will have a graveside service at 1pm on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Forestlawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Dementia Society of America. E.F. Drum Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
