Mr. Henry Elliott Loftin, age 89, of Vale, NC and formerly of Lincolnton, died Thursday, September 8, 2022.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm at Amity Baptist Church, 881 Amity Church Rd, Denver NC. The funeral service will be held at Amity Baptist, Monday at 3:00 pm, with Son-in-law, Pastor Scott Whitesides and Rev. Robert Hill officiating. Burial will be at Crouse Baptist Church, 2764 St. Marks Church Rd, Crouse NC 28033.
Born in Lincoln County to the late Henry Elgin and Jeanette Howard Loftin, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Blackburn Loftin. He served in the United States Army (Corporal) during the Korean Conflict. Elliott retired from Banking in 1990 and served as Chief of South Fork Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years. He greatly enjoyed hunting and Atlanta Braves Baseball. He also loved Southern Gospel Music and sang Bass many years in various family church quartets. He was a Godly man, faithfully serving 50 plus years at Crouse Baptist Church as Sunday School teacher, Treasurer and Deacon Chairman. He also served on the Executive Committee of the South Fork Baptist Association for several terms.
Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Joy Whitesides and husband Scott along with Grand-cat, Napoleon of Vale; three sisters, Alice McMurry, Barbara Schronce(Richard) of Denver; Sue Watts(R.A.) of Lincolnton; one brother, Lewis "Panner" Loftin of Charlotte; loving in-laws; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished relatives and friends.
